With my recent success climbing the Street Fighter ladder at work, I’ve decided to strap on those makeshift wings and fly toward the Marvel vs. Capcom franchise. The two are like Lady Gaga and Freddie Mercury, I realize, so who knows if I’ll be Icarus or Daedalus in this scenario. Honestly, I’m hoping for the latter. Some people might say “but then you watch your son abuse your creation’s power before falling to his death.” You might also mention his grisly demise at the hands of Kratos. But to you I say this: Kratos is in Mortal Kombat, dummy, and I’m already awesome at that game.
Seeing as I didn’t purchase what’s now likely to be known as the vanilla iteration of Marvel vs. Capcom 3, I’m not really pissed off about the whole “another version in less than a year’s time” thing. In fact, I pre-ordered Ultimate for the sake of scoring Morrigan in an awesome business casual outfit and Storm with her proud, classic mohawk.
Since I’m gonna be busy building a solid team around Phoenix Wright, I’ll leave you with three videos from Newgrounds made for the last release in the series… Which was 9 months ago. To the day, actually. February 15th, 2011. This is one fast-paced industry we’ve got here.
Best depiction of Marvil characters ever? You’d better believe it. I feel like Marvel has some similar characters, but they aren’t nearly as down to earth as this lot. These are real heroes. Everyday heroes. Workin’ at Best Buy and trollin’ for some strange in the cemetery heroes.
So, is it gonna be an Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 or Assassin’s Creed Revelations kind of day for you?
As an aside, please, Capcom, Jesus, whoever, don’t let the remaining members of Queen paint Lady Gaga as the reincarnation of the mustachioed one. I’ll die happy if I never have to hear the Gaga-ified version of “Bohemian Rhapsody.” Or that version of anything from their catalog, really. Thanks, Capcom/Jesus/whoever!
